You put your finger on a very sore point, Bob. My wife and I avoid any food items that originate from China. My wife is Singaporean Chinese, and we have lived together for nearly 20 years in different countries in SE Asia. I have become keenly aware of the contamination issues of Chinese food products.

Lead may not necessarily come from the terroir, as you rightly mentioned. If the storage containers contain lead, it seeps into the product. That's inevitable.
