You are spot-on with the palatability. I stay away from the industry-produced food as much as I can. Fortunately, my wife loves cooking and baking, which is why I mostly eat home-cooked food. What I noticed after having eaten home-baked bread for years is that when I eat a bun or bread from a baker, it tastes different; it leaves an after-taste that I had not noticed in earlier years when we got our bread from the bakery. Anyway, and as I said, I don't shy away from the occasional (every weekend) treat.
