You are on the right track, Ted. HFCS is a no-go zone for reasons too complex to discuss here (suffice it to say that HFCS doesn't play nice with the liver). Sodium is another aspect, though, as I will address in my next post, with some exceptions (the inverse salt-sensitive people who may see an increase in BP if they go too low with the salt). As far as nutrients other than the three macronutients are concerned, it will be difficult to pack them on a label). My personal benchmark is the calories to grams ratio (1 gram of fat = 9 calories, 1 gram of protein and carb=4 calories) . So, anything above a 3:1 ratio deserves a closer look.
