You are doing all the right things, Ted. As you said "there is no one-size-fits-all approach to fitness.
My intention was not to suggest a one-size-fits-all. Rather do I acknowledge that lack of time is an issue (perceived or real) for most people who are sedentary.
Though, I must admit, I don't buy the no-time excuse from most people who use it. I have two friends who are extremely busy in their jobs, one is a research physician, and the other is a company owner. Both exercise every day, and not just a few minutes.
What they don't do is waste time in front of the television.
You are also perfectly correct in saying that making exercise a daily habit is the key to keeping it up. I have been doing this for the past 27 years. And I know from expereince with my clients, once they have done the daily routine for 6 months, they have acquired a lifelong habit. Six months seems to be the threshold between dropping out and habituating exercise.
And your RHR of 50 is admirable. My wife, at 68, is in the same league as you. Mine is always around 60. Can't get it any lower.
