"with some straw attached" that's a good one, Neil. Made me laugh. As Hayley was so kind to point out, I used this "farmer market" term as a metaphor. We do have those here in Germany on a weekly schedule in nearly every town. The regional farmers offer their produce on these markets. What I wanted to convey is: where does store-bought food reside on the spectrum from farm to factory? Closer to the farm is preferable. That is, the potato is preferable to the potato chip, as Hayley pointed out.
