With all due respect, Chris, but your observations fall under the category of anecdotal evidence, not science.
Of course, you may consider someone who has 2 beers a day an alcoholic, that is your personal choice. However, most psychologists would disagree with that definition of dependence (because that's what the term 'alcoholic' implies).
And I certainly reject the comparison with some physician who seems ignorant of the smoking-ling cancer link.
Oh, and one more thing: regular exercise of >7.5 MET hours per week dramatically reduces the risk for alcohol associated cancers.
