What you observed illustrates two issues, one that is specific to the subject of this post, and another that is more generic. The paper's suggestion that the observed crests of molecular changes translate into noticeable physiological and functional changes is, on an individual's level, obviously untenable. The second and far more generic phenomenon is that even if there had been some changes among the participants, the averaged values of those changes hardly ever apply to any given individual.
