Well, if it's on Medium it is not a study in its true sense (a paper in reputed journal), but the author's representation of a study. Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing it, after all, I don't know which article you are referring to.

I typically prefer the evidence presented in meta-analyses, which aggregate athe results of many studies. The problem with individual RCTs in the context of protein supplementation & exercise is that mostly the participant numbers are small.

It is an acknowledged fact that small studies tend to show larger effect sizes than larger studies. But I can't judge how this has affected the study you mention. It would be nice if you can find that article, then I can have a look at the referencd study and look at the methods and data. But the overwhelming evidence from meta-analyses is that intake above the 2 g limit has no additive effect.
