The SGLT2 inhibitors are often prescribed to obese diabetics with exactly that in mind: weightloss. The weightloss is not as dramatic as what we see in drugs like Ozempic (they affect a different pathway). The SGLT2 inhibitors are generally well tolerated, the negative side effect is urinary tract infection for some users, the positive side effect is reduced CVD risk.
