That's not exactly correct. The NNT tells us how many people need to be treated to prevent one event. Its calculation is simple: NNT=100/ARR

ARR is absolute risk reduction. e.g. if a drug reduces the risk in the population from 5% to 3%, the ARR is 2%, hence the NNT=50
