That is such an important reminder that heart attacks in women often present with different symptoms than in men. But study populations are typically recruited from among men. The cardiovascular context is not the only one where we see gender differences. Metabolic reactions to exercise are also different between men and women. My team and I are seeing this for example in athletes' responses to exercise testing, or in aging-related trajectories of vascular function.

Still, the knee-jerk reaction to a man dropping down to the floor is "he has a heart attack", for a woman "she just fainted".
