The sodium/potassium ratio is indeed a driver of blood pressure. But I would not opt for outright potassium supplementation just to counterbalance a stratospheric sodium intake. Certain medications and impaired kidney functions don't play nice with potassium supplements. As I explained to one reader who asked about natural ways of getting potassium (NTTP): there are several food items that pack more potassium per gram than bananas. Just 3 Medjool dates already give you more potassium than 1 banana. Other very good sources are avocados, dried apricots, tomatoes, potatoes (as you mentioned), Swiss chard, yoghurt, …
