Thanks, Linda, for sharing. What you mentioned (the shifting diagnostic benchmarks) is something we see in many areas. All those benchmarks are in fact arbitrary "red lines" that come from epidemiological studies of associations between the relevant condition, be that blood sugar or blood pressure, and health outcome. These red lines are well-intentioned by those whose job it is to keep the population as healthy as possible. But there is a trade-off between the number of individuals who will be harmed and those who will benefit. That's why I'm big on individualization of lifestyle medicine. It's something which we, every one of us individually, can do already. Thi swill be the subject of my talk on Medium Day next Saturday.
