Thanks, Kylie, for your praise and for sharing.

Actually, there is not much “wow” about it. It’s just about data acquisition from willing study participants plus a bit of math work. The benefit of doing this is that I can massage the algorithm such that friends and I always get the best results. Just kidding.

I see some parallels between you and Juliet (my wife). She was about your age when she got acquainted with exercise for the first time in her life (that generation of Singaporeans had a lot of other things on their mind during their youth and young adult years. How to build a nation was one of those things. Since nations are rarely built around biceps and buttocks, exercise wasn’t on their to-do lists.

It was difficult for her initially. Just jogging once around our block felt like a torture and made her question my sanity for enjoying this.

Then I brought her to the gym. She is one of the lucky females whose body responds quite quickly to a resistance challenge. Four weeks later she was hooked, and has been ever since. Today, at 67, a height of 150 cm, and a weight of 44 Kg, she has a lot more muscle than fat. And she is a lot more attractive than any other woman of that age that I know (of course, it is my job as a husband to NOT find any other woman attractive). And looking back, she claims that the best thing that could have happened to her was that I forced (no, persuaded) her to become friends with sweating it out with barbells and cardio machines. So, keep doing it. You’ll never regret it.
