As far as I understand the literature Xenobiotics can actually activate the glucuronic pathway, and potentially lead to xylitol generation. For example, PCB, DDT, and BHT can increase the activity of UDP-glucose dehydrogenase and UDP-glucuronyltransferase, which are involved in the metabolism of endogenous compounds and xenobiotics. That's why I mentioned it. But I'm happy to correct my view if you can point me to relevant studies.
