However, I need to correct you on one statement you made:

The thyroid itself doesn't metabolize glucose for its own energy production. It can't because it lacks the requisite enzymes. On top of that, the energy demand of te thyroid is very small. But hormones influence the rate of glucose uptake and utilization by other tissues and organs. The lipoprotein excursions that we see in LMHRs is in all likelihood not due to thyroid dysfunction.
