When I left Germany in 1985, I was thrown into a predominantly English-speaking environment. That remained the case for the following 25 years. And my wife and I communicate in English only. If I write anything in German, I need to get into the swing of the language first, before the writing becomes acceptable. It's because I think in English. I love that language for its simplicity. To explain complex issues is far easier in English than in German. Mark Twain would fully agree, I believe.
