Thanks, Anique, for your thoughtful comments. I think it is quite natural to become more aware of health threats when growing older. It's a self-preservation mechanism, as I see it. The real danger lies in translating that perception into the I'm getting old now" way of thinking, which may turn into a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy. I've seen it so many times among my friends family and acquaintances. And that's why I find it quite helpful to look at one's biological not chronological age. That has become part and parcel of my research work and my work with clients. Fortunately, my wife has subscribed to this idea so completely that she even inspires me. At age 68 she is two years older than I, but she feels (and in may ways looks) like 20 years younger, age is no issue at all for her, and neither is the fear of diseases (you'll find her pictures on our website www.adiphea.com under the "about us" tab). I'm happy to have her as the inspiration for my work that is all about staying biologically younger.
