Our Stats Pages Are NOT Broken
Yesterday, many writers (e.g. Susie Kearley & Ellie Kingswell 🐑) voiced their concern about broken stats pages. I did the same, but not on the platform. I wrote to Medium directly, as you can see in the screenshot above.
I’m residing in Germany, so I’m used to seeing my stats updates for the previous day by 08:00. There was nothing. Zero dollars, zero reads. But I knew for sure I had reads.
My first step was to check whether this was a browser/cookies issue. The more IT-versed readers/writers will probably laugh at this naïve thought. Of course, that wasn’t the problem.
So, I went to the Medium help page and clicked my way down through the FAQ subjects until I came as close as possible to the appropriate questions/answers. There you will find the link to send a direct request. Which I did.
Medium’s answer came impressively swiftly. And with professional politeness.
To which I responded likewise with a thank-you note.
They must have received thousands of similar inquiries. Which is why I’m so impressed, and also grateful. It reaffirmed what I had believed until then: that I’m working on a platform controlled by thinking brains, not mechano-AI algos, as some writers suggested in recognition of the recent clean-up.
I wrote this post because, as a Friend Of Medium, I want to do what friends are here for: spread the good word and support.
