To answer your questions briefly, I left Germany in 1985 for my first assignment abroad. I was stationed in Riad, Saudi Arabia, for 4 years. The next assignment was a brief stint in Singapore 18 months, where I met Juliet. A week after we had met, I knew, I'd marry her, and I told her as much. She wanted to take things a little more slowly, so by November 1990 we had tied that knot.

After that came Australia, Melbourne to be precise. Still working for Siemens on defense projects (Outfitting 10 Anzac frigates). From there I started my own business, we moved back to Singapore for the next 12 years or so, from there to Thailand for 4 years, and then back to Germany.

By 2000, I had enough of my type of work, and started from scratch again. First, doing my MSc. in the UK, then my doctorate in Germany.
