I’m very sorry to hear about your problem with fibromyalgia, Purbita. What you can do is to try different exercise modes and find out which ones you tolerate better. For example, strength training can be a viable alternative, as there are higher intensity modes for strength training, too. If you choose to try strength training, let me know your experience with it. If you find it suitable, I can guide you how to do strength training in higher intensities. But probably you have very qualified trainers in your area who can help you better than I can. Then there is water exercise. “Running” in chest-high water in a pool, for example (or rather trying to run, because the water resistance will slow you down) may be something that you tolerate better than walking on ground. And it can be very intensive indeed. What you should always keep in mind is, the level of pain that you experience is not an indication of damage to your body. In rheumatic diseases, such as yours, the patients often shy away from anything that hurts, not only because of the sensation of pain (which is difficult to deal with), but also because thy falsely think that they are damaging their joints or body. Rest assured, that is not the case.
