I like to look at the role of breakfast within the diurnal pattern of glucose tolerance (we digest glucose differently at different times of the day). Typically, postmeal glucose excursions are lower at breakfast compared to lunch and dinner, with higher β-cell responsivity. That is generally a good thing, but it becomes an important consideration for diabetics and people with some degree of insulin resistance. Skipping breakfast altogether may even lead to higher postmela glucose at lunch. My personal pattern is two meals a day: the breakfast smoothie and a late lunch (or early dinner) at around 16:00. Typically some fruit snacks inbetween, or even a piece of cake (I have my vices, too). But, yes, you are right, Nancy, better go with breakfast than without.
