I fully understand your reservations, KimRae. My call for not becoming obese in the first place is not meant as a dressing down. On the contrary. I recommend a routine of daily weighing and to start with that routine at an age before weight gain typically manifest, that is in one's early 20s. Hardly anybody is listening, because nobody is worried about gaining weight. But those who do listen find themselves in control over their weight trajectory (my team and I have developed a tool to train one's "6th sense for calorie balance"). The added value of daily weight monitoring is that trends can be spotted early, and alert the person to implausible weight changes, too. That is, those that need to be checked by a physician.
