I can relate to that. My wife is Chinese (from Singapore) and my mother-in-law, regularly used tofu. Not as a meat substitute, but just on its own as a side dish. I loved everything she cooked, but the tofu stuff was the only exception. I simply don't like the taste or the texture. So I can relate if people can't accept tofu as a meat alternative.
