Confounding makes most, if not all, diet studies quite useless (and alcohol is part of diet). I know that judgement sounds quite harsh, but I'm not the only one thinking so. There is ample proof that you can virtually get any type of result that you want out of such studies. It all depends on how you set them up and what you look for. I'll write an article on tat subject in the future.
