As I have come to expect from you, you have once again commented very aptly and to the point: "everyone knows when they are enjoying something excessively". So, it is in most people's capacity to moderate accordingly. The point is in your statement: "I tire of being informed that anything I enjoy is going to substantially reduce longevity". I can't shake the suspicion that health moralization has become a substitute religion. Fortunately, when it comes to health, there are data which allow us to uncover the beliefs that the moralizers force upon the not-so-data-savvy.
